    Class 4 Curriculum letter

Happy new year and welcome to 2026! I am very excited to join Friskney All Saints Primary and start working with this class. Mrs. Simpson and I will be working together as the Class 4 team for the rest of the year and look forward to teaching this group of children. Below is an overview of this term’s learning. If you have any questions about this or any other aspect of school life, please feel free to get in touch with us.

    Maths

We will be starting out this term focusing on fractions, prime numbers, multiples and factors as well as multiplication using more digits.

    English

In English this term we will be using Carol Ann Duffy’s storybook ‘The Lost Happy Endings’ as inspiration for our own independent writing, using it whilst developing our English skills to ultimately write a diary entry. In reading, we will be using Winter of the Wolves by Tony Bradman as our class text whilst also looking at extracts of poetry and non-fiction.

    Science

This term in science we will be investigating living things and their habitats. We will be comparing life cycles of mammals, amphibians, insects and birds as well as investigating differences in processes between plants and animals.

    Religious Education

This term in RE, we will be exploring on answering the question of whether people always put their beliefs into action. We will be focusing on Christian worldviews within this context.

    P.E.

PE will be on Tuesday (Dance) and Friday (Gymnastic). Please ensure children have the correct P.E uniform, all earrings are removed, and hair is tied back on P.E days.

    Humanities

In geography this term, we will be investigating where our food comes from. Being in Lincolnshire, we are in an excellent position as so much food is grown locally, however, we will also be exploring what food comes from much further away and why.

    Foundation

We will also explore subjects designed to nurture creativity and emotional development such as PSHE, in which we will be focusing on understanding and discussing our dreams and goals. In music, our topic this term is pop ballads with help from music by Adele.

Additionally, we will be exploring how to speak, write and understand about pets in French, learning about building websites in computing, and learning about sculpture and an artist called Camilla Low in art.

Kind regards Miss Miles and Mrs Simpson
