I hope everyone has had a lovely summer break and ready for lots of exciting learning opportunities through our Autumn term. This is an overview of our learning topics for this term.

English |
PHONICS: YEAR 1 will continue to access daily phonics sessions to ensure they are ready for their end of year Phonics Screening Check in June. English writing will be based on our book ‘The Girl who planted Trees’ and we will explore fiction and non-fiction genres using the text as a stimulus. Reading Books will be changed every Friday so your child can practise their reading fluency of the story throughout the week. Please comment in your child’s yellow reading record when your child has read. |

Maths |
Children will explore mathematical concepts associated with the following topics:- ✓ Money ✓ Geometry: Properties of 2D shapes ✓ Number: Addition and Subtraction |

Science |
We will be learning about Living things and their Habitats whilst still exploring seasonal changes throughout the term. |

Geography |
We will be learning about ‘The Weather’ in the UK including seasonal and daily weather patterns, where the warmest/coldest places in the UK are and the wettest/driest parts of the country are. |

RE |
Our learning question for this term is ‘Who is Allah to Muslims and why does he matter them?’ |

PSHE (Jigsaw) |
The topic for this term is ‘Dreams and Goals.’ |

Art and Design |
The children will learn about the artist Claude Monet and explore his work. The children will continue to develop their knowledge of materials for printing and painting and use associated skills to produce artwork inspired by Monet. |

Computing |
This term we will be learning about ‘Digital Painting.’ Children will develop their understanding of a range of tools used for digital painting. |
|
Music |
We will be exploring the unit Rhythm in the way we walk/Banana Rap using the Charanga music scheme. |
|
PE |
Our PE sessions will take place on Monday and Friday. Please make sure your child comes to school in their PE kits on these days. |
