English

In English we are exploring our world. We will begin by writing all about ourselves and our hopes and aspirations for the future. We will be looking at non-fiction texts about our bodies and our senses. We will be discussing our local environment and how we can make positive changes to the world around us. We will be developing our sentence writing skills and accuracy of our handwriting.

Maths

In Maths we will build on our understanding of the number system. We are going to further explore place value, addition and subtraction. We will explore units of time and telling the time on an analogue clock. We will also be learning about money from the values of coins to how to give change.

Science

Our Science work this term is focused on our bodies. We will be learning the names of some of the bones in our skeleton, the function of the muscles and bones in our bodies and the way our digestive system works. We will look at our teeth and learn the names of the different teeth and how we can look after them.

Geography

In Geography we will be learning about the area we go to school in. We will then learn about the wider world including the names of the countries in the UK, the names of the continents and compare the different features of the continents.

PSHE (Jigsaw)

In PSHE we will be following the Jigsaw topic of ‘Being Me’ Within this topic we will learn about each other and think about how we can make our class a calm and happy place.

Art

In Art we are exploring sketching and painting. We are creating different self-portraits using different techniques and styles. We will be looking at the work of Picasso and recreating artwork in his unique style.

Computing

In computing we will begin our module on digital writing including exploring the keyboard, adding text and making changes to text.

PE

Our PE days this term are Tuesday and Thursday. On these days the children can come to school wearing their PE kits. Please ensure any earrings are removed and long hair is tied back.
