English

In our English we will be reading a range of different books where the characters go on a journey or an adventure, for example The Snail and the Whale, Mr Gumpy’s Outing and the Train Ride. We will also be learning about a famous explorer! We will be practising our letter formation and will be writing recounts, lists and labels. In reading we will be practising recognising keywords, developing our phonic knowledge and asking and answering questions about the things we have read.

Maths

In Maths we will be consolidating our recognition of 2 digit numbers and comparing the value of the numbers. We will be using our number knowledge to solve addition and subtraction sums. We are going to be naming and describing both 2D and 3D shapes and using them to make patterns.

Science

We are going to be exploring different materials and investigating their properties including whether they float or sink and if they are waterproof. We are also going to look at how we can change materials.

Geography

We will be learning about our school environment, the village of Friskney and places near and far to where we go to school! We are going to be mini-explorers!

PSHE (Jigsaw)

We are going to meet the Colour Monster and explore feelings within ourselves and how we can recognise feelings in others.

Art 

We are going to adventure into the jungle and learn about the artist ‘Henri Rousseau.’ We will be colouring mixing, making patterns, drawing and cutting to recreate his jungle artwork.

Computing

We will learn about technology in the world around us and how we use technology in our learning and everyday life.

PE

Our PE sessions will take place on Wednesday and Thursday and will begin on Wednesday 21st January. Please make sure your child comes to school in their PE kits on these days.
