Class 4 Curriculum letter

Welcome to Badgers Class 2026/2027! I hope you all had wonderful Summer holidays.

This year, Mrs Jurek, Mrs Simpson and I will work together as the Class 4 team. We are excited for all the new topics and activities planned for the weeks ahead.

Maths

We will be starting out this term focusing on number and place value, exploring negative numbers, 10,000,000 and determining the value of each digit. Maths will be taught to each year group individually to ensure the achieve the specific objectives for their school year.

English

In English this term we will be using the wonderful Dr Seuss story ‘The Lorax’ as the basis of our writing. We will explore writing using interesting vocabulary, writing information texts and writing persuasive letters, encouraging conservation of trees.

Science

This term in science we will be investigating electricity. We’ll learn all about the components of circuits before designing and building our own circuits in class.

Religious Education

This term in RE, we will be exploring on answering the question of whether religious worldviews can change over time, starting by investigating changing views in Christianity over history.

P.E.

PE will be on Tuesday (Football) and Friday (Basketball). Please ensure children have the correct P.E uniform, all earrings are removed and hair is tied back on P.E days.

Humanities

This half term we will be doing a geography topic! We will be focusing on energy- both renewable and non-renewable energy sources. We will explore solar power, wind energy, tidal and wave energy and more!

Foundation

We will also explore subjects designed to nurture creativity and emotional development such as PSHE, in which we will be focusing on how to be your most authentic self in our world. In music, we will be looking at pop and neo-soul music. Additionally, we will be learning about data bases in computing, and learning about the artist Henry Moore in art.
